A major part of our system is the cartesian movement system which retrieves toppings and dispenses them. The whole gantry slides into place on the 2020 extrusions, while each axis moves on linear bearings on hardened 8mm steel rods. To hold these in place, there are a number of components that needed to be printed.

Once these were complete we could then assembly the final gantry.

Each axis is powered by a NEMA 17 stepper with a pulley pulling a GT2 timing belt. This affords us quite a lot of precision in our movements, on top of being a simple system to implement.
